HHS Science Teacher and Vietnam Veteran Mr. Max Johnson Meets with American History Students

Mr. Max Johnson, shown here with HHS student Tri Nguyen, recently described his experiences in Vietnam. His presentation included a slide show, an explanation of his role in the invasion of Cambodia and a question and answer session. Here are more pictures and quotes of Mr. Johnson with HHS American History students.

"You have to have flexibility in war"

"As an artillery officer, my job was to put a ring of steel around my infantry soldiers"

"There was no front in Vietnam. You had to be ready to shoot in 360 degrees."

"What was your role when President Nixon ordered American troops into Cambodia?" Dave Ballenger

"What is your opinion of President Clinton and others that avoided the draft?" Troyce Burleson

"The only reason I would want to visit Vietnam is to apologize to the families of the soldiers I killed."
