HHS Students Meet Congressman Kerry Bentivolio

Ali (left)- Mr. Graney told us about a Reagan for President campaign event he attended in 1980. We noted you worked for the Reagan campaign in 1980. What do you want us to know about President Reagan? ANSWER- I helped set up an event for a rally in Michigan. I got thousands of chairs ready and then was told I had to get a VIP a hotel room but I wasn't told who it was. I got a hotel room and then a limousine pulled up. Out stepped Ronald Reagan and Henry Ford, the son of the car-maker.

Jessica- If you were the Commander in Chief would there be American combat troops back in Iraq? ANSWER- If I were the Commander-in Chief they never would have left. We would have stopped them at the border of Syria.
Kerry and Mike hit it off quite well.

requirement for the welfare SNAP program.
However if there were jobs available for those
people wouldn’t they be working anyway and not need SNAP?
Maria Fe and the rest of us were not happy that Speaker Boehner's constituent office was locked prior to our meeting with the congressman. However.....
...Nancy Pelosi's staffers welcomed us and we were able to invade her private office.
Jorge- What are some of the strongest memories you had from Vietnam and Iraq? ANSWER- I was 18 years old in Vietnam and commanding 9 soldiers. One day a soldier came in with a M16, pointed it at me and demanded to be sent home. I was very scared. He then said "I wasn't prepared for this." and then he blew his brains out right in front of me. I had to clean everything up. I'm still haunted by that.
Demba 2nd left- Would you vote in favor of arming Ukrainians against Russia? ANSWER- Depends on the facts. Russians would engage in pogroms against Jews whenever they had problems and I would not want that to take place.

Shannon- You voted to repeal Obamacare but are there any features of Obamacare you would like to see remain as law? ANSWER- The law is so scrambled right now that it just needs to be replaced at this point. The idea was meant well but the law is making a lot more things worse than it was fixing.
Justin- As someone that was a Design Engineer in the automotive industry what cars did you help design and what do you think is the coolest car on the road today? ANSWER- I helped change a system of interior steel rivets to one piece so it was like a skeleton for a car.

When you were in Iraq your Commander in Chief was
the second President Bush.
What grade would you give them in their role as
Commander in Chief?
If someone wants to cut hair or do manicures or all sorts of other things why do you need permission from the state in the form of a license? You should just be able to do it.
One of the great things about this nation is the tolerance and diversity we have. But private property rights of business should be respected.
