Iraqi-Americans Discuss Potential War

Akram and HHS graduate Marwa discussed issues related to the potential war with Iraq and what life is like in Iraq. This conversation took place on March 11, 2003.

Jennifer, Amal, Colin, Will and Kaely

Jennifer: Since both of you are Americans and enjoy American freedoms and your parents immigrated to America to improve their lives, why wouldn't you want your families in Iraq to enjoy the same freedoms? Aren't you opposing a war that could provide that freedom?

Patrick- How do you know if you're getting unbiased and true information if you say that Bush is lying to us?

Ruth- You are both obviously of a higher economic class since you were able to come to the U.S. Therefore, do you feel that your views represent the majority of Iraq which is much poorer and does not have the advantages you do?

Vanessa and Christine- I agree that civilian lives should not be put in danger if we go to war, but if we aim to only kill Saddam Hussein, are you certain that his followers will not retaliate against the U.S.? (V-Mack)
