A Look Inside Cuba

Students in Mr. Graney's and Mrs. Small's Political Science class met with Cuban Interests Section official Dario Machado on December 10th, 2003. Johanna Squires is shown here presenting Mr. Machado with HHS gear including a HHS Pride pin. Prior to a Q-A session with the students, Mr. Machado read a speech he prepared chronicling the accomplishments of Cuba since the Revolution and describing the Cuban view of the U.S. government. The United States government does not recognize the government of Cuba. As a result, Cuba does not have an embassy in Washington, D.C. The interests of Cuba are represented by Switzerland, although the Cuba Interests Section building where we met with Mr. Machado is a separate facility from the Swiss embassy.

Are Tiny and Johanna symbolizing a policy that locks Cubans in their own country???
